A Juvenile of Painted Terrapin Handed Over by A Villager
A villager of Tanjung Ibus handed over a juvenile of Painted Terrapin (Batagur borneoensis) to the staff of the Agency of Conservation of Natural Resources (BBKSDA), Province of North Sumatera, on Tuesday (15 August). The staff of the Satucita Foundation accompanied the government officials.
The terrapin is in healthy condition, without any injured. Currently, this juvenile is being kept at the head-starting pool – owned by the Agency which is supported by the SatuCita Foundation – for future treatment before released into the wild.
The Satucita Foundation is committed to recovering the wild population of Painted Terrapin, nationally protected and critically endangered species according to IUCN Red List.
